The Cowboys induct DeMarcus Ware into Ring of Honor

The Cowboys will announce which game Ware will be honored at, but that will happen before he receives his Hall of Fame ring on November 30 when the Cowboys play the Seattle Seahawks.

Ware’s selection also raises the question of when Jimmy Johnson will be inducted into Ring of Honor.

When Johnson was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2020, Jones said he would add the two-time Super Bowl winning coach to the Ring of Honor but didn’t say when. Jones and Johnson have feuded — and apparently reconciled — several times since they broke up after Super Bowl XXVIII.

“I think it’s very important to realize that this is DeMarcus’s time, and this is his year,” Jones said. “He’s a player. Jimmy isn’t. OK? So I wanted to put him in because he’s him and I wanted to put a player.”

Fans and former players have called for Johnson to be added to the Ring of Honor. Jones turns 81 in October. Johnson, his former teammate at Arkansas, turned 80 last month.

“He’s the youngest 80-year-old you’ll ever meet. I’m standing right behind him,” said Jones. “And that thing is not influenced by age. As a matter of fact, I would go the other way if I thought someone would accuse us of trying to beat time. I wouldn’t let the old man in.”
