The Rangers announce hockey operations personnel updates

New York Rangers President and General Manager Chris Drury today announced several updates to the team’s hockey operations staff:

• Angela Ruggiero Hired as a hockey operations consultant
• Christian Hamora Appointed as a skill development and performance coach
• Mark Chachio Appointed as a potential development skills coach

renal He is in his third season with the organization after serving as a hockey operations consultant since 2022. In his new role, he will work alongside Mike Barnett. Chloe played 10 seasons in the National Hockey League, split between the San Jose Sharks (2005–13), Rangers (2012–13) and New Jersey Devils (2013–15), collecting 309 points (119G-127A) in 491 games. Following his playing career, Chloe served as an assistant coach for the Devils (2016-18) and was the head coach of the Newfoundland Growlers of the ECHL during the 2018-19 campaign.

Ruggiero A four-time Olympic medalist and was inducted into both the Hockey Hall of Fame and the USA Hockey Hall of Fame in 2015, and the IIHF Hall of Fame in 2017 after skating for over 15 years (1996-2011) with the USA Women’s National Team. Ruggiero helped the United States capture its first ever gold medal in women’s ice hockey at the 1998 Winter Olympics as the youngest member of the team and went on to win three more Olympic medals (2002 silver, 2010, 2006 bronze). .

Hamora He comes to New York after six seasons (2017-2023) as Director of Hockey and Director of Player Development at the Chicago Mission, a Tier 1 AAA youth hockey club. During his tenure with the mission, 22 players were selected in the NHL Entry Draft. From 2012 to 2023, Hamura was a special professional development coach, working with over 70 NHL players in private and small group settings. Additionally, Hamura was a scout for the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) Moncton Wildcats for three years (2013-2016).

Chachio He has been with Rangers since 2013, previously serving as the team’s skills coach. In his new role, Ciaccio will primarily work with the potential team as part of the player development staff. Prior to joining the Rangers, Chachio was a skills coach for the Phoenix Coyotes for 12 seasons (2001-13) and worked with Modo in the Swedish Hockey League (SHL) in 2011.

Mara He will work as part of the player development team, working with potential Rangers clients on and off the ice. He joined the Rangers organization after two seasons coaching the Boston Pride of the Premier Hockey League. Additionally, he has served as an assistant coach for the United States Women’s National Team since 2016 where in 2018 he helped guide Team USA to Olympic gold. The seventh overall pick in the 1997 NHL Entry Draft, Mara played in 734 NHL games and produced 253 points totaling six franchises. From 2006 to 2009, Mara participated in 156 games for the Blueshirts, tallying eight goals and 35 assists for 43 points.

hussler He returns to the NHL after spending two seasons at MSU as the head athletic trainer. Hossler spent 14 years with the Nashville Predators (2007-2021), including serving as the organization’s head athletic coach for his last eight seasons with the team.

Rodgers He comes to New York after spending the past five seasons as a physical therapist and assistant strength and conditioning coach for the Tampa Bay Lightning. In his role with Tampa Bay, Rodgers has assisted in implementing strength and high performance programs, and assisted medical staff by conducting physical therapy and traditional athletic training services.

McAvoy He landed a full-time role after two seasons with the team as a temporary assistant in the strength and conditioning department. After graduating from Queen’s College, McAvoy got her start in the industry as an intern at Prentiss Hockey Performance where she worked alongside coaches to design and implement exercise programs for professional athletes.

Yeats He has spent parts of the past two seasons with the Philadelphia Flyers in the hockey analytics department. She joined the Flyers front office after two seasons with the University of Massachusetts men’s hockey team where she served as Director of Analytics. In addition to her role at UMass, Yates worked in the analytics department for the Boston Bruins.
