Republican committee chairman James Cuomo of Kentucky demanded answers by the 17th of this month and subsequently held a closed-door meeting with them.

The subpoena indicates Republicans want to investigate whether Biden's closest aides substantially concealed the 81-year-old president's true health, an investigation that could last until the Nov. 5 election, Axios reported.

Cuomo said the committee was concerned that the aides “may be intervening on the president's behalf and potentially performing some of his duties.”

He added, “It is clear that President Biden is unfit to serve as president, but his staff is trying to hide the truth from the American people.”

Axios reports that Senate Democratic Majority Leader Chuck Schumer told donors that he is open to Biden not running for president and that he is listening to ideas and suggestions about the best path forward for the Democratic Party.
