25 Republican governors back Texas in standoff with Biden — RT World News

Gov. Greg Abbott has waged a legal battle with federal agencies over his immigration policies

A large group of Republican governors issued a joint statement to express this “Symbiosis” With Texas Governor Greg Abbott stepping up border protection, the White House is accused of leaving the country “Completely weak” Amidst the influx of illegal immigrants.

Posted on Thursday, Open letter It was signed by 25 GOP governors across the country, with Vermont Gov. Phil Scott the only Republican to leave his signature on the letter.

State leaders sharply criticized President Joe Biden, who they said did so “I attacked and sued the state of Texas for stepping up to protect American citizens from historic levels of illegal immigrants, deadly drugs like fentanyl, and terrorists entering our country.”

“We stand in solidarity with our fellow Governor, Greg Abbott, and the state of Texas in using every tool and strategy, including razor fences, to secure the border.” The message continued. “We do this in part because the Biden administration refuses to enforce immigration laws already on the books and is illegally allowing mass paroles across America of immigrants who entered our country illegally.”

Abbott has been locked in a long legal battle with the Biden-era Justice Department over Texas' efforts to stem the flow of illegal immigration into the United States. Tensions were exacerbated by a Supreme Court ruling earlier this week that allowed federal Border Patrol agents to remove razor wire that Texas authorities had installed along the US-Mexico border. Abbott responded to the ruling by saying Biden did so “Refuse to implement [immigration] And even broke the laws.”

The Texas governor likened the record immigration numbers in recent years to… “Invade,” Invoking the constitutional powers of the state to defend itself against foreign incursions.

“That authority is the supreme law of the land and supersedes any federal laws to the contrary. The Texas National Guard, Texas Department of Public Safety and other Texas employees act based on that authority, as well as state law, to secure Texas' borders.” Abbott previously argued.

The standoff with federal agencies came to a head earlier this month when Texas used state National Guard troops to block federal Border Patrol agents from reaching a 2.5-mile stretch along the border with Mexico. Following that incident, the case was brought before the Supreme Court, which ultimately ruled in favor of the federal government.

Last month, the Border Patrol reported 300,000 encounters with illegal immigrants, an all-time high. While Republicans in the House of Representatives similarly accused Biden of facilitating the process “Invade,” The Democratic majority responded that denying entry to asylum seekers would be difficult “rude” And “Inhumane”.

As part of a border crackdown dubbed “Operation Lone Star,” Abbott sought to build barriers along the border and arrested about 500,000 illegal immigrants. Texas also transferred more than 97,000 immigrants allowed by federal authorities to enter the country to the Democratic-run jurisdictions of New York City, Chicago, Denver, Los Angeles, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C.
