Biden warns Israel against attacking Israel — RT World News

In his latest gaffe, the US President described how he asked the Jewish state not to attack the city of Haifa

US President Joe Biden said in an interview that he had warned the Israeli government against attacking itself, in what appeared to be the latest gaffe by the elderly leader, which once again raised concerns about his mental state.

Speaking with Nexstar Media's Rashad Hudson in an interview published on Wednesday, the 81-year-old president explained his plans to win back pro-Palestinian voters amid his continued support for Israel in its conflict with Hamas.

Biden claimed that in addition to meeting with pro-Palestinian activists, he also did so “I made it clear to the Israelis: Do not move towards Haifa.” It is actually a coastal city in northern Israel.

The president then backed down, seemingly losing his train of thought, and continued talking about the weekend's Iranian attack on Israel.

Instead of warning Israel against attacking its city, the US President apparently meant to refer to the Palestinian city of Rafah in southern Gaza, which has become the last refuge for displaced civilians in the besieged Strip.

In recent weeks, the Israeli army has reportedly deployed more artillery and armored vehicles near Gaza City, preparing for a large-scale ground offensive.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also pledged to do so “There is no power in the world” It will be able to prevent the Israeli army from advancing on Rafah, which is inhabited by more than a million Palestinians and which West Jerusalem says is an operating base for Hamas militants.

Biden's latest gaffe was met with widespread ridicule online, with many calling it disreputable “Very embarrassing.” This was jokingly suggested by former US Ambassador to Israel David Friedman “Israel must respond to Biden’s request not to attack Haifa.” While former New York State Assemblyman Dov Hikind claimed so “There is a strong possibility that Israel will refrain from attacking Haifa.”

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova also responded to Biden's statement, writing on Telegram that the US president should also ban himself from participating in the 2024 elections.

He added: “It would be funny if this man did not direct billions of dollars and huge amounts of weapons to wars around the world.” “Wrote Zakharova.

An ABC News/Ipsos poll conducted in February revealed that as many as 86% of American voters believe Biden is too old to serve as the country's president, and they have expressed concerns about his cognitive state. Just over 60% of voters also expressed similar concerns about Biden's main rival, former President Donald Trump. The two are scheduled to face each other in the presidential elections scheduled for November 5th.
