CAF boosts 2023 Africa Cup of Nations prize money value Sports

Just a few days before the start of the Ivory Coast match on the 13th of this month, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced that the prize money for the 2023 Nations Cup will be increased by 40%.

CAF said on its website that the executive office decided to increase the tournament prize money, with the winner of the title receiving $7 million starting from the Ivory Coast edition.

He added, “The runners-up will receive $4 million, while each team that advances to the semifinals will receive $2.5 million and each team that advances to the quarterfinals will receive $1.3 million.”

CAF president Patrice Motsepe said: “CAF has made huge progress over the past two years in increasing prize money at the Nations Cup and all other major tournaments.”


Côte d'Ivoire will host the 34th World Cup in Côte d'Ivoire from the 13th of this month to February 11th next year.

A total of 24 teams participated in this tournament, led by Egypt, which holds the record with 7 championships.

The intercontinental competition will kick off on the 13th of this month at the “Alassane Ouattara” Stadium. The host team and the two-time defending champion team will face the Guinea-Bissau team, which has not won in three tournaments. Abidjan has a capacity of 60,000 spectators.
