Josh Sitter’s ex Monica Beverly Hills claims the ‘Bachelorette’ alum faked his death.
“I’m confused, I’m pissed,” the “RuPaul’s Drag Race” star, 38, said. He told Entertainment Weekly In a Q&A posted on Tuesday.
“I’m glad he’s alive, I’m glad he’s here, but it pisses me off,” said Monica, who doesn’t believe Setter’s account of being hacked.
For his part, Setter, 36, denied such speculation in a statement to the outlet.
“These are all ridiculous accusations made by someone who has nothing better to do with his time,” he said, in part via email.
“As a mental health advocate, suicide issues are very sensitive to me. The suggestion that I would organize a death pamphlet on this issue is sickening.

According to Monica, she and Setter have known each other since 2013, when the former worked on the club circuit as a dancer, while the latter worked as a ballroom dancer.
“I was putting heart-shaped faces on his stuff, and he was putting faces on my stuff,” she said, adding that the two reconnected this month and soon fell into a full-fledged relationship — which they made Instagram official.
“It wasn’t until I posted the first picture that everyone was blasting me like, ‘Hey girl, run’ and ‘He’s a power stalker,’ and we were laughing about it, like, ‘People call you a power chaser,'” she said, “so when I hear comments I was asking him.”
Monica then alleged that Seiter told her: “He told me he was going to plant … the stories himself.”
The two split on August 22, according to the drag queen, just days before Seater’s “death” made headlines.
“He was up and down and the inside out, which is why when I heard he passed, I didn’t want to believe it, but in a way, he’s not really up there. He’s not, and I can feel it,” Monica said.
Speaking with EW, she went on to question why Seiter had “no repercussions” if in fact he perpetuated fake news about his death.
“Now he’s got his Instagram back, so now he’s going back to what he’s doing, and nobody’s going to hold Josh accountable, because what? He’s a (cisgender) white man,” she said.
“It really bothers me because women of color, people I know personally, are being attacked and killed and no one is giving them the airtime they need, but Josh Setter comes in and he’s in the news, he’s everywhere.”
Setter posted a video On Instagram He claimed Tuesday afternoon that a hacker was “playing a cruel joke and making fun” of his mental illness and past suicide attempts and apologized for the “confusion” the fake statement had caused.
“I am sorry for all the pain they caused me when they made this post. I just got back into my account,” he said in his video.
“I will do everything I can with my team to try and determine who is behind this, but again I apologize for the confusion and will update you guys as more facts emerge.”
Seiter also removed the original death announcement from his network, but did not explain why it took him a full day to process what happened.
The statement, which was supposedly written by his family, announced that he had passed away after years of mental health challenges.
The statement, which has since been denounced, read: “It is with a very heavy heart that we share the tragic news of Joshua’s unexpected death.”
As all who knew him can attest, Joshua was an incredibly bright light in an increasingly dark world. His courageous voice and indomitable spirit helped thousands of people in their darkest moments feel a little less alone.
Seiter — who briefly competed on Caitlin Bristow’s season of “The Bachelorette” in 2015 — announced in July 2021 that he had been diagnosed with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), bipolar depression and generalized anxiety disorder (GAD).
