Messi refuses to take part in Champions League special

Argentinian legend Lionel Messi turned down an invitation to appear on a sports program broadcast on CBS Sports Network in the United States on Wednesday to analyze a UEFA Champions League football match.

British sports presenter Kate Abdo claimed the reason Messi refused to attend as a guest was because of the presence of former Liverpool and England defender Jamie Carragher as an analyst.

Last year, the Liverpool legend claimed he received private messages from Messi via Instagram in which he described him as a “donkey”, a reference to criticism of Messi following his move to Paris Saint-Germain response.

The former England international said in January last year: “I criticized the Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo earlier this season and I didn’t think it was a good step for him to return to Manchester United in England, and then I said the same to Messi. Same thing.” He joined French team Paris Saint-Germain. ”

“After a while, Messi sent a message in Spanish and after translation, it became clear that it meant (donkey).”

Although some time has passed, the world champion who competed with the “Tango” team in the 2022 Qatar World Cup does not seem to have forgiven Carragher’s remarks and rejected the official invitation to join the Miami Champions League Studio.

Speaking to the former England defender during the broadcast, the BBC said: “You know we sent an official invitation to the Inter Miami striker and asked him to take part. Do you know what the official response was?”

She continued, “It doesn’t look like Lionel Messi will be taking part in any TV shows that Jamie Carragher is taking part in.”
