Nearly 80,000 gas stoves are subject to voluntary recall due to gas leaks and fire hazards

Tens of thousands of gas hobs from the Electrolux Group are now subject to voluntary recall, according to A Thursday alert From the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).
The CPSC notice said the recall of approximately 77,000 Frigidaire gas stoves by the major appliances company around them “presents a gas leakage risk and a fire hazard.” These risks can arise from cracks or breaks in the plastic control knobs with black shafts.
The recall alert from the CPSC asked consumers to “check for black-shaft plastic control knobs” on Frigidaire’s 30-inch four-burner and 36-inch five-burner stainless steel gas stoves. These models, FFGC3026SS and FFGC3626SS, must not receive any further use due to the recall until they have been repaired, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).

Consumer safety regulators designated the recalled serial numbers as 1F00590006 through 1F11090155 and 3F53705075 through 3F01309052 for the four-burner model. For the other model, the serial numbers in the recall include 1F00590020 to 1F10390342 and 3F53703455 to 3F00806110.

Information about these numbers appears on the underside of the burner.
“You may continue to use chrome-coloured shaft grips because they are not included in the recall,” Electrolux said on a webpage dedicated to the recall.

To date, more than fifty cases of cracked or broken control knobs have been brought to the Electrolux Group’s attention, according to a recall notice issued by the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).
In one case, she added, a person suffered a “minor” injury related to a gas leak. One fire is reported as well.

“As always, the safety of our customers is our top priority, and we take this very seriously,” Chad Strickland, director of product safety for North America Electrolux Group, said in a statement. “We have decided to voluntarily recall these affected stoves in close partnership with the CPSC and deeply apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.”

The hardware company is working to provide replacement handles with chrome shafts to all affected customers free of charge and is communicating with them regarding this matter, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).
Those with stoves recalled would have gotten them from Lowe’s, The Home Depot or an independent hardware store, the CPSC notice said. These retailers sold it from March 2016 to April 2022.
The Electrolux Group has many products available in approximately 120 markets around the world.
