NEW YORK — Nathaniel Lowe hit a two-run single with two outs in the ninth and the Texas Rangers beat the New York Mets 4-3 Monday night for only their second win in 11 games.
This is the Rangers’ first win this season when they are behind after eight rounds.
“Big win,” said manager Bruce Bochy. “Nate, this is one of the biggest songs we’ve had this year.”
Adolis García started a comeback from 3–0 down by scoring on a double in the seventh for his 95th RBI—second most in the American League. Robbie Grossman scored in the eighth against Corey Seager, who scored three hits.
Texas remained one game behind first-place Seattle in the West, and just the second day this season the Rangers weren’t at the top of the division.
“It’s hard to feel like yourself — you feel like you have to hit the pedal everywhere you go,” said John Gray, who allowed three runs in six innings. “I think a game like tonight can bring us back to it.” And it takes us back to a sense of ourselves.”
Brandon Nimmo finished going 0-for-21 with a two-run homer for the last-place Mets. DJ Stewart also delved.
Jonah Heim opened the ninth inning with a single against Trevor Gutt (0-4), and Ezequiel Duran followed with a double. Gutt hit Leodi Taveras and Marcus Semin and Seger intentionally walked before Lowe hit a 2-1 pitch between first and second to score pinch runner Josh Smith and a turnover.
“He made some great pitches to hit a really good hitter at Simien and (Taveras) and he’s one step away,” said Mets manager Buck Showalter. “it’s a pity.”
Going into Monday, the Rangers were 0-47 when trailing after eight innings.
“You’re in a bit of trouble like this,” Boshey said, “and you need someone to pick you up and what a great job (Louis) did.” “But it wasn’t just him. The offering did a great job.”
Jose Leclerc worked a two-run home run to Francisco Alvarez in the ninth inning for a second home run. Martin Perez (9-4) threw two innings of relief.
“It was a win for the team, as Martin got two zeros and Leclerc saved the ball,” said Lowe. “It’s not the way we’ve set it up before. New players that come forward and make big wins keep us in that game. We’ve had the benefit of some hitting there (with) the runners in the scoring position.”
Gray gave up Nemo’s homer in the third inning and Stewart’s solo shot in the fifth but struck out nine hits—his most since he puffed out 12 in the complete game loss to St. Louis on June 7.
Taylor Miguel allowed one run and struck out eight in six hard innings for the Mets.
Diaz is still aiming to return at 23
Mets closer Edwin Diaz, who tore his right patellar tendon on March 15 while celebrating after Puerto Rico’s elimination from the final game of Puerto Rico’s victory over the Dominican Republic in the World Baseball Classic, He threw his first outdoor game on Sunday While he continues to try to come back this season.

“I wish I had done a better show,” Scherzer said. “I don’t like to point fingers unless I’m pointing fingers at myself. I can definitely point fingers at myself.”
Scherzer, who will not play in the series against the Mets, is 3-1 in five games for the Rangers.
Coach room
Rangers: RHP Glenn Otto was called up from Triple-A Round Rock to replace RHP Jonathan Hernández, who was picked to the same affiliate after walking three batters in the 13th inning of Sunday’s loss.
Mets: RF Starling Marte (right thigh) has begun undergoing physical therapy in Philadelphia. Showalter said Marty will likely receive treatment through Friday.

LHP Andrew Heaney (9-6, 4.34 ERA) starts Tuesday night for the Rangers in the middle game of the series against LHP José Quintana (1-5, 3.73). Heaney has thrown just 9 1/3 innings combined in his last three starts. Quintana has pitched at least five innings in all seven of his starts this season.
