The Morning After: Atari’s new mini-console powers 2600 and 7800 game consoles

Atari is releasing yet another old home console, after its latest attempt. The Atari 2600+ pays homage to the original Atari 2600, which came out in 1977, but this new version emulates the four-key model from 1980. (Of course, we’ll talk specific).



The console has been beautifully recreated with the same specifications as the original but is only 80 percent of its size. Additional features of the console are HDMI output and wide screen support. It’ll have 10 titles in the box, but Atari fans will want to track down the physical cartridges if they want to play the hits of the era, like pac man or impasse! The mini console also contains a remanufactured Atari CX40 joystick. The Atari 2600+ will launch worldwide on November 17th for $130, and pre-orders are already open. From cartridge games to ray tracing. NVIDIA has unveiled a community led Half-Life 2 RTX: The RTX Remix Project Which, as the name suggests, will remake the classic shooter for PCs with GeForce RTX graphics. Not only is the team adding ray tracing technology, but it’s an effort to update the overall look and feel of the game.

The ray tracing lights are the main attraction, of course, but the mods also use an early version of RTX Remix to add extra detail to the model (via Valve’s Hammer editor) and rework textures with physical rendering properties. The RTX port, so far, looks much more moody and much more detailed, with the light sources bouncing and diffusing in a much more realistic way.
