Authorities said several protesters were arrested outside New York University's Business School
Dozens of pro-Palestinian demonstrators gathered at New York University, where police later broke up the gathering and made a number of arrests, according to local officials and media reports.
New York University spokesman John Beckman said that the demonstration began on Monday morning in Cannes Plaza in front of the Stern School of Business, and about 50 people participated in it, adding that this happened. “Without permission.”

According to CBS News, the march appears to have been supported by some university students. It was reportedly supported by several pro-Palestinian organizations that set up tents in the area.
One of the demonstrators said, according to what the network reported, that the demonstrators want New York University to recognize this “There is genocide happening, and there are Palestinian students who deserve to feel that their voice is heard.”

The NYU protests followed a similar march at Columbia University and coincided with a demonstration at Yale University where at least 60 people were arrested. American colleges and universities witnessed a wave of protests following the deadly attack on Israel by the Palestinian militant group Hamas in October. The ongoing Israeli retaliatory attack on Gaza caused unprecedented destruction in the Strip and left more than 34,000 dead.
