Beijing has said that recent British restrictions on Chinese companies have no basis in international law
The UK's decision to blacklist Chinese companies as part of a new round of sanctions against Russia will not go unanswered, the Chinese embassy in London said.
On Thursday, Britain announced more restrictions aimed at harming Moscow, saying that these restrictions coincide with the second anniversary of the start of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. The latest sanctions target 50 entities and individuals, most of them from Russia but there are also three Chinese companies on the list.
Restrictions imposed on Chinese companies by the UK are “Unilateral actions that have no basis in international law, and we strongly oppose them.” Beijing's diplomatic mission said in a statement later in the day.

This is not the first time the UK has blacklisted Chinese companies. Three companies from the country were also included in Britain's previous sanctions package targeting Russia, which was announced in early December. On Friday, the European Union also announced a new set of punitive measures against Moscow on the second anniversary of the outbreak of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
