Dolphins launch a deadly attack on doomed porpoises in front of a boat full of distraught wildlife enthusiasts off the coast of Wales

Dolphin watchers were dumbfounded when they watched a group of mammals kill baby porpoises for fun.

On August 22nd, a group of nine tourists set off from the West Wales coast at 6.35pm on a one-hour sunset dolphin cruise.

When the dolphin-watching group returns to Ceredigion Beach, the group begins to see some goings-on in the water.

Accompanied by SeaMôr wildlife guides Andy Walsh and Josh Pedley, the group watched as eight bottlenose dolphins pummeled the significantly smaller porpoises as they approached.

The tour company stated that it was “extremely rare” to be in such an incident.

Brett Stones, 44, owner SeymourHe said, “Since dolphins and porpoises look alike, they went there, but they realized that the dolphins were actually in the process of hitting the porpoises.”

According to Mr. Pedley, the deadly attack lasted less than ten minutes.

He claimed that the porpoises “didn’t stand any chance” as when the group turned to see the mammals heading towards the small aquatic creature.

At this point, all they could see was a “cataract eruption,” according to Mr. Pedler.

l said Western Telegraph: ‘Porpoises have tried on several occasions to use our boat for shelter and hide under us.

This gave us unparalleled viewing of the event.

Eventually the dolphins got bored, and we watched in disbelief as the porpoises breathed their last beside our boat.

“This was naturally very sad for the porpoises.”

Although bottlenose dolphins have a reputation for being “cute and cuddly animals,” they can also be quite “aggressive.”

The porpoise is a small aquatic mammal, also classified as the toothed whale. There are as many as seven different species of porpoise, all of which are endangered.

“A little bit of competition for food and the element of the dolphins being a bit nasty is part of it,” Mr Stones told MailOnline.

The owner of the company, who had never seen such an accident in his 27 years of running flights, stated:

“It’s very rare to see it, but does it happen often?” We’re not 100 percent sure. The ocean is so huge, we only see a small part of it.

Our wildlife guide, Mr. Pedley, echoed this statement: “We’ve talked about swine-killer, and heard of it, but it’s been spoken of almost in legend.”

Mr. Stones, remembering the reactions of those who had witnessed the swine-killer as soon as they came ashore, said Mr. Stones:

“They were a mixture of excitement but also having to witness events like this can be traumatic.

Some passengers wanted to give the animal a “hug” during the “traumatic” event according to SeaMôr owner Brett Stones.

“A couple wanted to connect with, cuddle and provide sanctuary to an animal. We always support the vulnerable.

Said Mr. Pedley to BBC: “All the passengers were great, we had the right people”

The tour guide also revealed that the people on board were inquiring about the swineicide shortly before it happened in the body.

There were mixed reactions to the incident on social media, according to the team.

Some have been devastated by the porpoises’ unfortunate departure. With one comment: “Oh my God, how heartbreaking nature can be.” I’m so glad I didn’t witness this but I know it’s life.

Another said: “So sad but that’s the way the animal world is.”

Others congratulated them on the footage, saying, “Awesome.” thank you for that.’

Another said sarcastically: “Great pictures, nature is wild and beautiful too.”
