For the past 5 to 6 years, Apple has been very lenient with the amount of iPhones it releases each year. The company launched a maximum of three iPhones per year before the launch of the iPhone 12 in 2020 which saw the launch of four models besides the iPhone SE 2020 which was launched four months before the release of the above.
Since 2020, the number four has been the new normal for Apple. Previously, the iPhone 14 Plus replaced the iPhone 13 Mini by the Cupertino-based tech giant. However, rumors have been circulating in the tech industry that we might have the fifth iPhone at Apple’s October Wonderlust event.
Genesis 15 Ultra
According to a post on X by a tipster known as Majin Bu, there may be a change in the iPhone 15 lineup for this year based on the information he had access to.
And in the additional details of his post, he mentioned that the iPhone 15 Pro Max will have up to 6 GB of RAM and also up to 1 TB of storage. However, unlike every year since 2020, this won’t be the last or top iPhone of the year.
Apple may launch another phone known as the iPhone 15 Ultra, which will have up to 8GB of RAM and 2TB of storage. It is said that the iPhone 15 Ultra will have a much better camera, specifications and features than the iPhone 15 Pro series.
He also mentioned that the iPhone 15 Ultra will go up by $100 and then the iPhone 15 Pro Max which in turn will have a hike from one hundred dollars to $200. According to previous rumors and leaks, the iPhone 15 Pro Max is priced at around $1,299. Therefore, the price of the 15 Ultra can be estimated at about $ 1399 or more.
The question of legitimacy
The interesting note to note is that as soon as the hints post appeared, he retracted his claims by saying that he knew for a fact that both 6.7-inch variants were tested but had no firm information about the two-screen version. Both at once.
Rumors put to bed
This rumor has been frozen by Bloomberg Mark Gorman Who wrote in his post X that there will not be two or even three high-end models, but only one. This indicates that Apple may revert to its previous three models for each annual release pattern.
Reports regarding the release of the iPhone 15 Ultra are not new at all. Once the iPhone 14 series was released, Gorman mentioned in his report that next year, the iPhone might change its naming strategies to match its new high-end smartwatch, the Apple Watch Ultra. Thus, the top model of the iPhone 15 series will be called iPhone 15 Ultra.
It’s also interesting to note that as the release date gets closer, the rumors are becoming more frequent in nature. The possibility of an iPhone Ultra is not far off. Apple has already done this once, releasing four models each year as opposed to the three they were releasing.
For the time being, the Gurman report has put an end to these rumors and so-called reports, and we will see with our own eyes whether these rumors are true or not at the Apple Wonderlust event, which will take place on September 12, 2023.
