Two Hamas fighters connected to Oct 7 attack killed – IDF — RT World News

Israeli forces also reported that they killed three leaders of the Palestinian movement in an air strike

The Israeli army announced on Wednesday on its official website that two Hamas fighters, believed to have participated in the October 7 attack on Israel, were eliminated in an air strike in Gaza.

According to the Israeli army, the militants were eliminated in a raid carried out by fighter jets. The armed forces did not provide any additional information about how the militants were linked to the Hamas attack, which signals the latest escalation in the long-running Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

On October 7, Hamas fighters launched a surprise attack on villages in southern Israel near Gaza. The attack led to the death of more than 1,100 people and the capture of several hundred hostages who were transported to the enclave.

In its report on Wednesday, the IDF also claimed to have arrested two faction leaders and a division commander of Hamas forces, Al-Nujaba, who were hiding in a military compound.

The Israeli army attached the report to a video clip allegedly showing the two attacks.

The report also stated that the Israeli Nahal Brigade eliminated about 20 Hamas fighters in Gaza using sniper fire, a drone, and a fighter jet. The document claimed that in one attack, the Israeli army was able to kill 15 Palestinian fighters through a sniper ambush.

Last month, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in an interview with CBS News that his country is close to achieving the goal. “Total victory” In its war against Hamas, it will take weeks for the conflict to end, after the Israeli army begins a major ground offensive in the southern end of Gaza.

“Victory is near, and there will be no victory until Hamas is eliminated.” Netanyahu said. “Once we begin the Rafah operation, the intense phase of the fighting will be weeks away from ending.”

At the same time, Israel has faced international criticism for its ongoing attack and blockade of Gaza in its attempt to eliminate Hamas. According to the latest estimates by the Palestinian health authorities, the war has so far resulted in the deaths of more than 30,000 people in Gaza, while more than 70,000 others have been injured.

In addition, the United Nations has warned of a humanitarian catastrophe in the Strip, estimating that approximately 2.3 million Palestinians are currently facing famine while nearly 80% of the population has fled their homes.
