President Joe Biden believes “Iran-backed extremist armed groups operating in Syria and Iraq” are responsible
Three American soldiers were killed and more than 30 service members were wounded in an overnight drone attack on a small American outpost in Jordan near the Syrian border, U.S. Central Command said Sunday. This is the first time that American soldiers have been killed by enemy fire in the region since the beginning of the Gaza war.
The Islamic Resistance in Iraq – an umbrella group for Shiite militias – claimed responsibility for the attack.
President Joe Biden pledged to hold those responsible for the attack accountable, attributing it to him “Iran-backed extremist armed groups operating in Syria and Iraq.”
