Man ‘intentionally’ crashes truck into Texas government agency (VIDEOS) — RT World News

A convicted felon allegedly rammed a stolen 18-wheeler into a Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) office, killing one person and injuring 13 after he was denied a renewal of his commercial driver's license the day before.

The incident occurred Friday morning at a DPS office in Brenham, Texas, after a sheriff's deputy chased a truck that had been reported stolen. The driver, identified as 42-year-old Clinard Parker, hit and run “Hard right turn” It crashed into the entrance of DPS spokesman Sergeant Justin Ruiz's licensing office Tell Reporters.

All 14 people who were in the building at the time were injured. Six of the victims were transported to area hospitals, one of whom later died, while eight others were treated at the scene. Parker came to the same office Thursday and was told he was not eligible to renew his truck driver's license, Ruiz said.

Brenham is located about 80 miles west of Houston. Mayor Atwood Kingora said the victims could have been much worse had law enforcement officers not quickly pulled the driver from the stolen truck as he backed it into the building again. “Our fire chief stated that had he veered slightly to the left the second time, there would have been a collapse of that building, which would have resulted in more injuries and possible death.”

Parker is said to have a criminal record dating back to 1999, including convictions for felonies and misdemeanors. He was previously charged with possession of illegal weapons and tampering with a government record.
